As of today this Flash Image Photography blog site is going to be specifically used for showing off all the amazing things Heritage Makers has to offer and how their personal publishing site has inspired Flash Image to become more than just a photo studio.

Because of Heritage Makers I am able to offer amazing hardbound albums, canvas, and one of a kind greeting cards, FREE album and canvas design classes, and a high speed scanning service to my clients. Not to mention the opportunity to help my CLIENTS/FRIENDS/FAMILY share THEIR photos and story, THEIR way.

I have had the opportunity to hear the screams of excitement and joy through my phone of someone who had just received their first Heritage Makers project in the mail. And I have cried along side someone who had just received a book they had created to document the life story of a loved one recently lost. I love capturing moments with my camera but these are opportunities I would not have had if I were not a Heritage Makers consultant.

On this site I will have Heritage Makers projects I have created, tips and tricks, events and other exciting things going on with Heritage Makers, art work updates, and class schedules, as well as client spotlights so I can show off all the amazing books, calendars, cards, and canvas projects that my incredible clients have made as well.

The November Digicrop at Flash Image Studio is quickly approaching. This is our second month to have it at our new location and we are loving it. If you missed last month come check out the new place and get a bunch of work done on your Christmas projects!

Bring your laptop, and a smile...there will be snacks, come and go as you please, but most importantly get the time, and support you need to complete all those projects you want for Christmas (or have just been meaning to make).

The company will also be offering some instructional webinars on Thursday night, Friday night, and a show and share opportunity on Saturday afternoon. And, I’m positive there will be special sales for everyone joining us that weekend!

So, what should you do:

1. Make a gift list (birthday, wedding, Christmas, or something for yourself)

2. Gather pictures together (digital or hard copy). If you have pictures you will need scanned, give me a call to set a scanning appointment (I can scan 100 photos in 15 minutes). If you scan your own pictures, remember to scan them at the largest resolution as you can.

3. Make a list of what projects you want to make:

**coffee table books (depending on the size, you will need 40-60 pictures)
**a deck of playing cards (up to 55 pictures; the card deck picture and 52 cards + 2 jokers) or make them into gift tags with 1 photo
**a family cookbook (gather recipes, pictures of family gatherings eating those recipes)
**wall canvases (up to 5 or 6 pictures or 1 very special picture)
**a family calendar (1-3 pictures per month)
**and more.

4. Set up your account in Heritage Makers by going to my WEBSITE!

-Watch a few of the “online classes”

-Check out the Heritage Makers “youtube” channel and watch some of the company videos.

5. Tell your family that you will be busy the weekend of 10/14-17 working on the best gifts ever.

Here's the Wade family! We had a great afternoon at the lake. We almost fought the rain the week before this and I am so glad we decided to wait because we could not have asked for better weather.

The whole family has the most incredible blue eyes; amazing! And they are so nice; a complete pleasure to hang out with and I think I may have found my next mini models. C and K did an amazing job.

Clothing Ideas for your Portraits: FALL

Family portraits are in full swing here at Flash Image; so exciting! Sometimes the hardest part about family portraits is trying to coordinate clothing which can be super stressful for Mom. Being a Mom myself I don't want to be the cause of any added stress so I am hoping to provide some inspiration with this post.

Because I can't usually pay a visit to everyone's closet to help with clothing ideas I started doing some research to find ideas for everyone! A few tips, you don't have to buy new clothes. Be creative with what you already have, don't be afraid of color, don't forget to accessorize, and have fun!

Here are some ideas for fall sessions to help spark some ideas:

Love this one! The splashes of red are perfect...

Here are some fun color combo's without being so matchy matchy.

These colors would be great with our fall leaves...

Not entirely fall right? Turn the shorts into pants and put some long sleeves under tanks and dresses or add a cute sweater and you have a warmer version of the same idea.

and if you still want to do kaki and black be sure to add some fun elements like poka dots and stripes to give your photos character.

HERITAGE MAKERS...

WHAT is it?

WHY: I love it! Heritage Makers has been an amazing addition to my photo studio. The quality, creativity and price point I am able to offer my clients is untouchable. Being a part of HM has allowed me to reach clients I would not have been able to. It has allowed me to maintain the commitment to excellence I have always had, continue doing what I love, all while building a financial stability for my family I haven't had in the past.

I love capturing amazing moments for my clients with my camera but I want to show them how they can preserve all the memories I don't photograph for them as well. The everyday memories that are sitting in their shoe boxes or on their computers. It isn't about me; it's about my client and how I can help them. Why shouldn't a non-professional be able to design and purchase a professional product? Most publishing companies I have worked with in the past do not allow a non-professional to buy from them and they certainly have not sent me a pay check for all my purchases at the end of each month.

I love a team environment. Because of HM I am able to lead an amazing team of people from all over the country. I have learned so much working side by side some of the most amazing people. We are helping each other change our clients lives...it feels great!

I need to know that I am a part of something bigger. Something that is helping people, bringing families together, preserving memories, teaching people how to do something with their photos so they aren't sitting on thumb drives, cd's, and computers.

I don't HAVE to be a photographer; I LOVE being a photographer. I don't HAVE to be a Heritage Maker's consultant. I LOVE being a Heritage Maker's consultant.

Corban and Peyton

Here is the latest session I did with my kiddos; Corban (3) and Peyton (2). Obviously I really enjoy taking photos of these two but it doesn't seem to happen often enough. I have committed to at least twice a year; once for Peyton's birthday in March, and once for Corban's birthday in August. These are from Peyton's birthday. I was a month late taking them but I got it done and I love them. Enjoy!

I loved Mack and Kelly's wedding. It was my first wedding after the big move back to Montana and even in the midst of an awful fire season, the colors were still so vibrant. Kelly and I grew up together so photographing her wedding was very meaningful to me and this group definitely knows how to party. We had a blast! Important Family Fold and Poster Announcements

Heritage Makers Publishing update:

On June 1, 2010, we will be turning off the ability to create new 5-panel and 7-panel family folds, and 12x18 posters.

On August 1, 2010, we will be turning off the ability to publish these projects. We will continue to offer 3-panel family folds and 18x24 posters.

On June 1, we will allow 12x18 poster credits to be used for 18x24 posters. Any family fold credit will still be good for the 3-panel family fold.

If you would like to publish 5-panel or 7-panel family folds or 12x18 posters, please plan according to these dates.

As you know, as a Heritage Makers Consultant, I do in home workshops, where you invite friends and family in your home and I introduce HM to them and you receive free products. This has been a great thing, but has been intimidating for some to take the time, open their home, clean, cook, and HOPE people show up!

Well now I am offering something different….

YOU, ME & TWO!

You find only 2 people that have the same ‘PICTURE PROBLEM’, (they take so many pictures and now do not know what to do with them) I sit down with you three and show you the website and get you signed up with your free account. This poem exemplifies why I LOVE helping others preserve their memories through photographs and storybooking so I had to share it. Enjoy...

CRABBY OLD MAN

When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in North Platte , Nebraska. It was believed that he had nothing left of any value.

Later, when the nurses were going through his meager possessions, they found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital. One nurse took her copy to Missouri.

The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas edition of the News Magazine of the St. Louis Association for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem.

And this little old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this 'anonymous' poem winging across the Internet.

Oh my goodness I love this little girl. So little, so precious, and sooooo sweet. I felt so thankful to get to spend sometime taking photos of her, her big brother and her mommy, a couple of weeks ago. Her big brother was so good with her, I was impressed.

That's right, more belly photos, I can't get enough and hopefully you can't either. This was such a fun session. It was with Jennifer, her son Campbell, and the upcoming addition to the family, Parker (of course still in Jenn's belly).

We had a great time playing with blocks, giggling, and getting Campbell to say Ice Cream for the camera. I hope they had as much fun as I did.

Bilodeau Twins

I love senior portraits; I can easily say they are my favorite photos to shoot. So you can imagine my excitement to have my first senior portrait session of 2009 a couple of weeks ago. It was with Nikie and Hillary, twins that are seniors at Bigfork High.

I think they both thought I was crazy when I said we would be going to a dilapidated barn to take their photos but I was very excited to shoot there. The old barn gave us tons of options and I just love the character it gave the girl's portraits.

Expecting Baby Love

I had the honor of taking pregnancy photos of my good friend Ashley last week; we had a great time. The sounds of Corban and Peyton playing with Lucie (the soon to be big sister) as well as Baby Bach on the CD player filled my studio. Plenty of fun props, toys, and snacks kept everyone entertained and happy.
Ashley was due on the August 28th so the new baby should be joining us any day now; I can't wait. Especially because I really want to know if it is a boy or girl. Props to Ashley for waiting to find out; I couldn't do it....

Since I began using Heritage Makers as my exclusive publishing company in November 2006 I have been able to create the most amazing things for my clients. Messer Wedding

My wedding last weekend in Bigfork was beautiful. Remember Jason and Mandy; the cute couple that had their engagement pictures on the beach at Flathead Lake? (Click HERE to refresh your memory). Their wedding was on July 18th and I had a great time. Sunshine, open fields, an amazing house, lots and lots and well, lots of friends and family, a gorgeous bride and handsome groom; I couldn't ask for more.

I was worried that the 90+ degree temperature was going to cause problems, but I got so involved in my job I didn't even think about it. I had a great time and took sooo many photographs. I have been getting them prepared to post to the website all week. I am almost done and am very excited for Jason and Mandy to see all that I was able to capture of their amazing day.

Thanks Potts family and Messer family for a wonderful wedding for me to do what I love.

Hope Run

It was great to be a part of the annual Hope Run at Lake Mary Ronan again.

For the last 3 years hundreds have gathered at Lake Mary Ronan lodge to help support the Montana Hope Project. For this annual fundraiser everyone joins in the fun by riding their atv's, dirt bikes, and other off road vehicles 100 miles and then enjoying dinner and music together, followed by a raffle where many prizes are won.

The Montana Hope Project began in 1984 and the goal of the fundraiser is to make dreams come true for critically ill children in Montana. To date, over 304 wishes have been granted. For more information about the Hope Project please visit: http://www.montanahope.org/

Mandy and Jason

I had so much fun taking pictures of Mandy and Jason. They are getting married July 18th and I can't wait. Mandy and I have been friends since we were kids. We rode horses together and were inseparable during the summer time. I am so happy for Mandy; Jason is a great guy.

Road trip! I finally made it to Bozeman (Montana) and had the best time! On the drive there I got up close and personal with a lot of the common Montana wildlife; it was a great drive. I saw about 70 deer ( many closer to the front end of my car than I prefer), about 30 elk (I forgot how big they are), and 2 bald eagles (both perched on the side of the road guarding their road kill). The only bad part was a small snow storm that I went through but it didn't last long so it was okay.
Once in Bozeman, I got to spend the weekend with my great friend Rebecca! We had a photo shoot for her on Saturday and then she hosted a Heritage Makers workshop on Sunday. Both days were so much fun and very successful. Here are some of my favorites from the shoot:

Last month I was in sunny Arizona for a few weeks and got to take some senior photos while I was there. This session was with a awesome guy named Garrett; we had a lot of fun. It was Garrett, his mom Sherry, and I in Old Town Glendale (what a great place to shoot). I miss being able to go down there on a regular basis.
